Baku Airport Defines Priorities for More Seamless and Digital Passenger Processes

The first meeting of the Air Transport Facilitation Commission was held at Heydar Aliyev International Airport. The meeting focused on the work carried out to facilitate air transport procedures, improve passenger processes at the airport, and make them faster, more convenient and increasingly digital, as well as on priorities for the next stage of development.

Particular attention was given to the potential implementation of electronic Machine Readable Travel Documents (eMRTDs), automated border control systems (eGates), biometric technologies, and Advance Passenger Information/Passenger Name Record (API/PNR) solutions. The participants also discussed improving data exchange and system integration between the relevant government authorities to ensure more efficient passenger processing.

The meeting also reviewed the work carried out in this area during the first half of 2026, along with passenger and flight statistics. Key priorities and tasks for the upcoming period were identified following the discussions.

The Commission’s activities are aimed at progressively improving passenger procedures at the airport, expanding the use of digital solutions, and strengthening coordination among the relevant authorities.
