Heydar Aliyev International Airport is an important transport hub providing high-level service and comfort. Baku International Airport, one of the eight international airports of Azerbaijan, was renamed on March 10, 2004 in honor of the national leader of our people, Heydar Aliyev.

Today, Heydar Aliyev International Airport continues to develop and improve its capabilities to remain one of the leading airports in the region and the world.

Azerbaijan’s air transport system encompasses 9 international airports. 8 of them are located in the regions and play a crucial role in the development of the country’s tourism, business, logistics, and international connectivity.

Gəncə International Airport

Serving Azerbaijan’s second largest city, this airport is the main air gateway of the western region. It obtained international status in 1996 and has significantly contributed to the economic, tourism, and cultural development of the region.

Naxçıvan International Airport

The air gateway of the ancient land to the world. It first began operations in the 1970s and, with the commissioning of a modern terminal complex in 2004, gained international status. Today, it is one of the key transport hubs of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic.

Lənkəran International Airport

Serving the southern region of Azerbaijan, this airport was officially inaugurated on October 8, 2008. It plays an important role in strengthening the region’s agricultural, tourism, and transport potential.

Qəbələ International Airport

Located in one of the country’s major tourism centers, Qəbələ International Airport was opened on November 17, 2011. Thanks to its favorable geographical location and the development of mountain tourism, the airport has made the region more accessible to foreign visitors.

Zaqatala International Airport

Covering the north-western region of Azerbaijan, the airport was put into operation in 2008 and fully reconstructed in 2018. The Zaqatala region holds strategic importance due to its location in a border area.

Füzuli International Airport

Füzuli International Airport holds special significance as the first newly constructed airport in the Karabakh region, completed in a record time. It was inaugurated on October 26, 2021, and became one of the symbolic projects of the reconstruction of the liberated territories.

Zəngilan International Airport

Located in the East Zangazur economic region, this airport was commissioned on October 20, 2022. It expands the region’s logistics capabilities and supports the realization of new economic potential.

Laçın International Airport

The highest-altitude international airport in Azerbaijan. It was inaugurated on May 28, 2025 – and has begun to play an important role in the international transport connections of Karabakh and East Zangazur.
