Heydar Aliyev International Airport successfully completed the APEX in Safety review program conducted by the Airports Council International (ACI) from 23 to 26 June 2025.

The APEX in Safety program is a professional evaluation initiative aimed at increasing the level of safety at airports and conducted by international experts. Within the framework of the program, experts representing the world’s leading airports assess the status of safety management at airports based on international standards.

During the four-day audit, the existing procedures and systems in the field of safety at Heydar Aliyev International Airport, the approach to organizing operations, infrastructure conditions, and compliance with ICAO standards were thoroughly evaluated. The review covered the following key areas:

· Safety management systems and documentation

· Airport operations and procedures

· Apron and taxiway operations, markings, and lighting

· Planning of aircraft stand areas and safety requirements

· Readiness level of Rescue and Firefighting services (ARFF)

· Emergency preparedness and coordination plans

It should be noted that the review mission included experts representing prestigious international airports such as Berlin Brandenburg, iGA Istanbul, Dubai Airports, Hamad International, Malaysia Airports, and Tirana International Airport.
