04 May 2026

On May 3, an official welcoming ceremony for the first direct flight on the Belgrade–Baku–Belgrade route, operated by Serbia’s national carrier Air Serbia, was held at Heydar Aliyev International Airport.

According to the new flight program, flights will be operated twice a week — on Wednesdays and Saturdays. The route expands air connectivity between Azerbaijan and Europe, contributing to the development of tourism and business relations. The visa-free regime in place between the two countries makes travel more accessible and increases interest in the destination.

Passengers of the inaugural flight were welcomed upon landing at the airport with a traditional water cannon salute. As part of the event, commemorative gifts reflecting Azerbaijani culture were presented.

The official ceremony was attended by representatives of the Government of Azerbaijan, the Serbian delegation, and the management of Air Serbia. It should be noted that the new route is another step in expanding the international route network of Heydar Aliyev International Airport and further strengthens Baku’s position as one of the leading aviation and tourism hubs in the region.
