Air Astana launches direct flights between Baku and Atyrau

31 May 2025

Azerbaijan’s main aviation hub, Heydar Aliyev International Airport, continues to strengthen its international flight network in the region. On May 31, Kazakhstan’s national carrier, Air Astana, successfully launched its first scheduled direct flight on the Baku–Atyrau–Baku route.

Flights will operate three times a week – on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Saturdays. The new route provides direct air connectivity between two important economic cities, Baku and Atyrau, creating more accessible and efficient conditions for business and leisure travel.

This route will further enhance the existing strategic partnership between Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan, particularly in trade, energy, and tourism sectors.

“The launch of direct flights between Baku and Atyrau is a significant milestone in further deepening the strategic partnership between Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan. The expansion of our collaboration with Air Astana will strongly boost the development of regional aviation networks, as well as enhance the business environment and tourism opportunities in both countries,” said Teymur Hasanov, Director of Heydar Aliyev International Airport.

Currently, direct flights to Baku are operated from Astana, Almaty, and Aktau. Adding the Atyrau route will significantly enhance air transport connectivity between the two countries.
