Heydar Aliyev International Airport, prioritizing passenger safety and comfort, has achieved another strategic milestone. The main gateway of Azerbaijan has enhanced its technical infrastructure with the integration of Rapid Recovery System (R2S) technology, developed by one of the world’s leading companies – ResQtec.
Recognized as the “gold standard” in the aviation industry, the R2S system ensures more stable and safer ground handling of aircraft, creating favorable conditions for uninterrupted flight operations. Its key advantage lies in the fact that the entire process is carried out in a single step without interruptions, minimizing the need for additional interventions and making operations more efficient and reliable. Importantly, the technology is activated only after all passengers have fully disembarked from the aircraft.
Currently, Heydar Aliyev International Airport is the only airport in the region equipped with this technology. This achievement strengthens Azerbaijan’s position not only as a geographical transit hub but also as the most reliable choice in terms of technical safety, increasing the country’s attractiveness for international air traffic.
As part of the preparation for the implementation of the new technology, airport staff successfully completed ResQtec’s international training programs. Initial courses were held in the Czech Republic, followed by an intensive five-day program in Baku, enabling specialists to acquire the latest knowledge in equipment operation.
ResQtec technologies are already in use worldwide at leading airports such as Toronto, Manas, Vienna, Geneva, Tallinn, Ostrava, and Changi, as well as by prestigious airlines including Qatar Airways, Air France, Etihad Airways, and Air Canada. Azerbaijan’s accession to this ecosystem reinforces the country’s reputation as a trusted partner within the global aviation community.
“The implementation of ResQtec technology marks an important milestone in the modernization of Azerbaijan’s aviation infrastructure. This step signifies a higher level of trust and highlights our country’s growing role within the international aviation family,” emphasized Teymur Hasanov, Director of Airport Operations in Azerbaijan.
Heydar Aliyev International Airport will continue its modernization strategy by investing in innovative technologies and advancing its commitment to innovation.
