Arrival at Heydar Aliyev International Airport

"Disembarkation of passengers with special needs is made in the last turn. If you ordered “Follow me service” from the ground handling staff, we ask you stay where you are before arrival of ground handling company staff. Upon arriving at Heydar Aliyev International Airport the employees of ground handling company meet the passengers with special needs.

They will assist at disembarkation from an aircraft, as well as help to collect baggage and escort you to transport. There are parking spaces for passengers with special needs on the Parking in front of the Terminal 1. 

 

Preparation for a flight

"Please contact and notify the airline or tour operator about required services for assistance at least 48 hours before departure of your flight and accurately described your needs.

The airline will inform in advance ground handling company operated its flight that the assistance is necessary for you. This will allow ground handling company to provide you service corresponding to individual needs of the passenger.

The airline will be able to offer you the accommodation in the cabin consistent with the safety requirements. Boarding at emergency exits of passengers with physical and/or sensory restrictions is prohibited according to the safety requirements."

Parking spaces

There are parking spaces in front of Terminal 1 intended for passengers with special needs. Follow the road signs at entrance on a parking to find parking spaces for passengers with special needs.

If you arrive by yourself, and you need help from a parking space, please inform about your arrival time to the airline or travel agency when booking the air ticket or 48 hours prior to your departure.

Ground service will receive necessary information from airline and will expect you at the "Parking Space for Passengers with Special Needs" stand with the purpose to accompany you for passing all flight procedures.

Services for passengers with special needs

Services for passengers with special needs are provided free of charge at Heydar Aliyev International Airport

The Terminal 1 of Heydar Aliyev International Airport is completely non-barrier environment for movement in the terminal.

Services for passengers with special needs are provided by ground handling company which include

  • Meeting of passengers with special needs at transport;
  • Provision of wheelchair and the escort for mobility in the terminal and boarding;
  • Pickup on board aircraft with ambulant elevator.

Please read the information below, it will help make your trip more comfortable and enjoyable.

In the Terminal

"Arriving at Heydar Aliyev International Airport, you or the person accompanying you can ask the employee at the Information Desk for the help, or go to check-in desk of airline and inform about your arrival.

Apply to the employee at Information Desk, the employee will provide you all necessary information, call the escort, provide a wheelchair and report airline about your arrival and location.

For passengers with special needs:

  • Check-in of all airlines is made without turn.
  • Preflight check to sterile zone is made without turn.
  • Escort, and also a wheelchair for mobility in the terminal and boarding the aircraft
  • If necessary you can use first aid station at the airport which works around the clock;
  • If you travel with children, you can use baby care room;
  • In addition, there is Playground for children after passing the Passport Control.

For your convenience non-barrier environment was completely created in Terminal 1 of Heydar Aliyev International Airport for mobility in the terminal of passengers with special needs.

  • If the aircraft is connected to the terminal with a telescopic walkway, the passenger will be forwarded to the aircraft directly.
  • If the aircraft is on remote stand, the delivery on board the aircraft will be carried out by using an ambulant elevator."

Multipurpose Toilets

There are multipurpose toilets for passengers with special needs in the Terminal 1 where the necessary conditions created for wheelchair users, elderly persons, and passengers traveling with infants. The multipurpose toilets are located on all floors of departure and arrival halls of the Terminal 1

Travel on a wheelchair with the electric drive

You should consider the following IATA dangerous goods regulations:

  • The wheelchair with the electric drive is checked-in as baggage, the accumulator is switched-off during registration;
  • Liquid batteries are disconnected, packed and checked-in as baggage.
